USA Wrestling’s popular Junior National Duals begin on Thursday at the Freede Center on the campus of Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The event features many of the nation's high school wrestlers, and features the three Olympic styles of wrestling: men’s freestyle, women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman.

Women’s freestyle will be contested on Thursday. Greco-Roman begins on Friday and will be completed on Saturday. Men’s freestyle begins on Sunday and will be completed on Monday.

The defending Junior National Duals champion in freestyle is Ohio, which defeated New Jersey in the championship match last year, 35-22. Minnesota was third, beating Oklahoma 34-30 in the medal round. Iowa defeated California, 50-16, for fifth place. Placing seventh was Illinois, with a 53-13 win over Missouri.

The defending Junior National Duals Greco-Roman champion is Illinois, which won the event three straight years. Illinois stopped Florida in the championship dual meet last year by a 33-27 margin. Claiming third was Wisconsin, a 41-21 winner over Minnesota. Arizona was fifth, beating California, 38-28. Claiming seventh was Iowa, which stopped Kansas, 46-19.

Women’s freestyle will be contested alongside the men’s styles for the first time. Previously, the Women’s Junior National Duals were held alongside the ASICS/Vaughan Junior and Cadet Nationals in Fargo, N.D. The defending champion is California, which beat Texas in the deciding dual meet last year, 42-11.
