KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Three members of the 2009 U.S. FILA Junior World Team earned the right to return to the FILA Junior World Championships with victories at the Body Bar Women’s FILA Junior National Championships on Saturday.

Winners qualified for the FILA Junior World Championships in Budapest, Hungary in July 20-25.

Named the Outstanding Wrestler in the tournament was the 55 kg/121 lbs. champion Helen Maroulis of the New York AC, one of the 2009 Junior World Team members. 

Maroulis scored a 2-2, 2-1 win over Shauna Isbell of Lindenwood in the finals. Maroulis will compete in the FILA Junior World Championships for the third time in her career. She was a Junior World bronze medalist in 2008, but did not medal in 2009.

2009 FILA Junior World champion Victoria Anthony of the New York AC qualified to return for another chance at a gold medal by winning the 48 kg/105.5 lbs. division. Anthony won a five athlete pool, including a 3-0, 3-1 win over runner-up Carlene Sluberski of the USOEC. Anthony won her Junior World title last year at 44 kg/97 lbs/

2009 FILA Junior World bronze medalist Veronica Carlson of the New York AC earned another trip to the FILA Junior World Championships with a victory at 63 kg/138.75 lbs. Carlson defeated Amanda Hendey of the SD Hot Beaches, 7-1, 2-0.

Two other winners were also members of past FILA Junior World Teams, Amy Whitbeck of the New York AC at 51 kg/112 lbs., Tatiana Padilla of the Sunkist Kids at 59 kg/130 lbs. and Erin Clodgo of the Sunkist Kids at 67 kg/147.5 lbs. 

Padilla defeated 2009 FILA Junior World Team member Schuyler Brown of the Gator WC, 6-1, 3-1 in the finals. Padilla was a Junior World silver medalist in 2007 and a Junior World bronze medalist in 2008. She did not make the 2009 Junior World team. She was also a 2008 Senior World bronze medalist.

Whitbeck defeated Sarah Hildebrandt of Team Indiana-PWC, 1-0, 4-0 in the finals. Clodgo beat Brittany Roberts of the Gator WC/OCU, 1-0, 1-0, Whitbeck and Clodgo competed in the 2007 FILA Junior World Championships.

Also qualifying for the FILA Junior World Team with victories today were 
Erin Golston of USOEC at 44 kg / 97 lbs. and Brittany Delgado (Gator WC/OCU) at 72 kg/158.5 lbs.

 “I am very excited about the level of ability on this Junior World Team,” said Alex Conte, one of the U.S. Junior World Team coaches. “They have both physical abilities and maturity. Our athletes in every weight class can win a medal. Hopefully, everything goes our way in Budapest.”

Winning the 79.5 kg/175 lbs. division, which is not a FILA Junior World weight class, was Paloma Basulto of the Missouri Valley WC
