Bronze Certification Course For the National Coaches Education Program Sponsored by USA Wrestling In Conjunction with 24 Hour Fitness In Jacksonville, Florida Saturday, June 30th
USA Wrestling will host a Bronze Certification Course Saturday, June 30th in Jacksonville, Florida. Check-in for the course will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The course will be held at the 24 Hour Fitness Center in Jacksonville. 24 Hour Fitness has signed a partnership with USA Wrestling to actively promote amateur wrestling nationally. The 24 Hour Fitness club is located at 1731 Wells Road, Orange Park, Florida and the telephone number is (904) 269-3000. Completing the Bronze Level Course affords coaches the opportunity to coach at state, regional, and national USA Wrestling events. (Coaches can take the Bronze course without having completed the Copper course.) The cost of the course is $50 and can be completed by attending the June 30th clinic in Jacksonville and then finishing the course with self study using the Coach's Guide to Excellence, internet study through TheMat.com, and then completing an open book test. Additionally, graduate credit through Northern Michigan University is available. For completing the Bronze course ½ credit is available, two credits are available at the Silver Level, and 2 more credits are available at the Gold Level. The National Coaches Education Program (NCEP) certified over 1,100 coaches nationally last year at the Bronze Level. USA Wrestling's Coaches Education Program is designed to give coaches a foundation of successful coaching principles to help grow the base of amateur wrestling throughout the country. If you're an active wrestling coach, you need to get NCEP certified! By completing the certification process at the Bronze Level, you will receive the Bronze Certified Card, and Certificate allowing you to coach at USA Wrestling events across the country. Also, you will receive for future reference the Coach's Guide to Excellence, a $30 value. Finally, as an added bonus for completing the Bronze Level, you will receive the official Bronze Certified Coach's shirt, a $25 value. Coaches who are Bronze certified are leaders in the wrestling community and are then encouraged to pursue further education through NCEP by completing the Silver and Gold levels. Once, a coach is Bronze certified he/she can attend the Silver Level National Coaches Colleges held annually. The Coaches College is a five-day intensive study of the sport of wrestling. This past year, two of USA Wrestling's Olympic Coaches completed their Silver Certification. National Greco-Roman Coach and former Olympic Gold Medalist Steve Fraser and Head Greco-Roman Olympic Coach Dan Chandler took the steps to become NCEP certified at the Silver Level. USA Wrestling encourages all active wrestling coaches to take the lead in building the sport of wrestling and attend a Bronze-Certification course soon!
