AKRON, Ohio â€" Jake Waste’s stop-sign collection continues to grow.

Waste added to his impressive number of USA Wrestling championship plaques after winning the FILA Cadet Nationals in Greco-Roman on Friday at the University of Akron.

Waste, from Minnesota, downed Oklahoma’s Kyle Crutchmer 1-0, 3-0 in the finals at 76 kg/167.5 lbs. He was named Outstanding Wrestler.

Waste captured a USA Wrestling Triple Crown in Cadets in 2009.

In certain weight classes, the FILA Cadet National Championships is also a U.S. qualifying event for Greco-Roman for the Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

The Youth Olympic Games is a brand-new event hosted by the International Olympic Committee. It will be held in Singapore from August 14-26, 2010 and will bring together 3,600 young athletes to compete for medals in 26 sports. Athletes from all 205 nations who compete in the Olympics are eligible to try out for the Youth Olympic Games.

Competing in the FILA Cadet Nationals is the first step in making the U.S. team for the Youth Olympic Games. The champions must also compete in a Pan American Qualifier in Mexico to qualify for Singapore.

The Greco-Roman weight classes which are YOG qualifiers are the following:

42 kg, 50 kg, 58 kg, 69 kg, 85 kg

The FILA Cadet Nationals freestyle competition is set for Saturday and Sunday in Akron.
