U.S. shut out of medals on day one of Hungarian Grand Prix

SZOMBETHELY, Hungary - The United States did not earn a medal on the first day of the Hungarian Grand Prix of Greco-Roman wrestling on Saturday.

The only U.S. athlete to win a bout on Saturday was Andy Bisek (Chaska, Minn./Minnesota Storm) at 74 kg/163 lbs., who finished with a 2-1 record.

Bisek won his first two bouts, including an exciting second-round win over 2004 Olympic champion and 2009 World champion Farid Mansurov of Azerbaijan, 1-0, 0-3, 1-0.

In the third round, Bisek lost to 2009 World bronze medalist Aliaksandr Kikiniov of Belarus, 0-3, 0-1.

Eight U.S. wrestlers competed on Saturday. Another six U.S. wrestlers will compete on Sunday, with competition at 55 kg/121 lbs., 66 kg/145.5 lbs. and 96 kg/211.5 lbs.
