COACH BARBEE ANNOUNCES 2001 WRESTLING CLASS   Nine state champions highlight most talented group in recent years    WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army wrestling coach Chuck Barbee announced his first recruiting class that includes nine defending state champions and one former state champion. The incoming candidates have won a total of 15 state championships in all and sported a .859 winning percentage during their high school careers. This year's group is touted as being one of the most talented to enter the Academy in quite some time.    "After getting off to a late start, I am very pleased with this year's class. I think they can make an immediate impact," said Barbee who took over the reins of the wrestling program last September.    Included among the class of 12 is a four-time state champion and high school All-American who is the No. 1-ranked senior in the country at 141 pounds by the National High School Coaches Association and two others who are two-time state champs. All 12 recruits placed fourth or higher at their respective state tournaments this past winter and have racked up a total of 33 state placings in their combined high school careers. Coach Barbee believes this class will help set the tone for future recruiting classes that he expects will improve Army wrestling.    "I am confident we will bring in more and more blue chip recruits as they realize that Army is a place where they can win championships," Barbee said.    Barbee did not experience any of the restrictions sometimes associated with recruiting for a military academy.     "I felt real excited to be recruiting for the U.S. Military Academy," Barbee said. "It was quite a pleasure to sit in the living room of these young athletes and tell them about the tremendous opportunities the Academy affords them.     The Black Knights are coming off a 4-8 season that saw them place ninth in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association.
