CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Virginia's Matt Snyder (R-Fr., Lewistown, Pa.) has been named the ACC Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. It marks Snyder's first career ACC Wrestler of the Week distinction.

Snyder had a dominating weekend in the 133-pound weight class, posting a pair of falls, including UVa's second-fastest pin of the season (in 25 seconds against Nick Adamo) in Virginia's 38-3 victory at Duke. Snyder added a pin against NC State's Dale Shull in 4:42 as Virginia recorded a 45-6 win over the Wolfpack.

Even more impressive is the fact that Snyder is wrestling up a weight class from his normal 125 pounds. Snyder has adjusted well and now has won five of his last six matches. He pushed his season record to 26-14 and now has a team-best nine falls this season.

This is Virginia's league-best fourth ACC Wrestler of the Week honor this season. Brent Jones has won the award twice (Nov. 17, Jan. 26), while Chris Henrich earned the distinction on Dec. 1.

The No. 23 Cavaliers wrap up the regular season this weekend by playing host to No. 10 Maryland at 1 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gymnasium.
