OLIVET, Mich. - Todd Hibbs has been promoted to vice president for institutional advancement at Olivet College, according to an announcement by President Don Tuski, Ph.D.

"Todd has demonstrated great leadership and commitment during his time at Olivet College," Tuski said. "He has been very successful on faculty, in coaching and fundraising and most recently administration."

Hibbs will be responsible for managing all operations within the college's Office of Institutional Advancement. He will lead fundraising and development efforts, as well as oversee alumni and college relations and serve on the Administrative Responsibility Team for the college.

In the wrestling community, Hibbs is known for his involvement on several levels. For many years he has served as the announcer for the NCAA Championships in all three divisions. Recently, he has done research and promotional work with the National Wrestling Coaches Association to put a focus on ethics in the sport.

Hibbs accepted the position of head wrestling coach at Olivet College in 2004, despite an announcement by the college's board of trustees that the program was to be eliminated at the completion of the 2004-05 season. After leading the program to reinstatement, Hibbs led the Comets to a 56-24-2 dual meet record over the next five seasons. Under his tutelage, Olivet moved its program into a new wrestling facility and placed eighth twice at the National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals. He also led the Comets to three Mid-States Conference Championships and to consistent top 10 finishes academically, including a national runner-up effort with a 3.49 GPA in 2008.

Hibbs has an extensive background working for several non-profit organizations in West Virginia, Ohio and Michigan. He earned a bachelor's degree from Mount Union College in 1989 and a master's degree in counseling psychology and human performance from Michigan State University in 1992. He is currently working toward a doctorate in stress management and natural health.

Hibbs resides in Battle Creek with wife Karen Kane, a research scientist with the Post Cereal Company, and children Kayla (5) and Brock (1).
