Mark Munoz named Oklahoma State Male Student-Athlete of the Year

STILLWATER, Okla. -  Mark Muñoz was honored as the 2000-01 OSU Male Student-Athlete of the Year.    Muñoz won his first national championship this past March with a 5-3 win over Illinois' Pat Quirk at 197 pounds. The fifth-year senior compiled a 121-31 career record, while garnering All-America honors in 2000 and 2001. Muñoz also won the Big 12 Championship at 197 pounds in 2000 and 2001.    The Vallejo, Calif. native sports a 3.41 GPA in health promotions and is a two-time first team Academic All-Big 12 performer. Muñoz also captured first team NWCA Academic All-America honors a year ago and is nominated again in 2001.    Muñoz has been named to the Big 12 Academic Honor Roll seven times. He is also  nominated for NCAA and Big 12 post-graduate awards this spring.    Muñoz is the fourth wrestler to be named OSU Male Student-Athlete of the Year in the seven-year history of the award.
