The 7th annual Mayor's Cup in New York City, set for the Harlem Armory on Saturday, January 30th and Sunday, January 31st, 2010, is expected to set entry records this year.

The MWA and Beat the Streets Wrestling, in conjunction with the Harlem Armory, the Mayor's office, the NYC Sports Commission and the three groups that offer high school wrestling in the city (PSAL, CHSAA, NYSAISAA) will host the event.

This year's Mayor's Cup consists of 76 high school teams and 78 middle school teams. The Cup has expanded with more teams entered in the varsity and more in the novice division.  

The fourth annual New York City Middle School Championships will be alongside the Mayor's Cup for the first time. 

Approximately 1,500 high school wrestlers are expected to compete.

The addition of the middle school division to the Mayor's Cup is believed to make it the largest single wrestling event held in New York State Wrestling.

All wrestlers entered to compete can earn individual and/or team honors. Athletes will also have the opportunity to be named the best wrestler in the largest wrestling city in the world. 

This special event links the Mayor of one of the world's major cities and the wrestling community together. It is a New York City happening to support the kids in the community and their passion for the sport of wrestling.
