Maryland's Taylor named ACC Wrestler of the Week By Steve Phillips Atlantic Coast ConferenceGREENSBORO, N.C. â€" Maryland 197-pound senior Taylor Hudson has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week for the third time this season after defeating one fellow nationally-ranked opponent and scoring a pair of pin-fall wins in Sunday's Wendy's Duals at Ashland, Ohio. The third-ranked Taylor outlasted 11th-ranked Logan Brown of Purdue for a 4-3 decision in his first match of the day. The Pennington, N.J., native followed up by pinning Ashland's Jake Ewing in 1:07 and Kent State's Casey Newberg in 2:10. Taylor's performance helped the ninth-ranked Terps to three dual wins, including a 24-16 victory over 14th-ranked Kent State. Taylor, who was also named ACC Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 24 and Dec. 8, is 29-2 on the year, with 19 of those wins coming by pin. ACC teams get back into action Wednesday night, as NC State travels to Gardner-Webb for a tri-match with the host Bulldogs and Appalachian State. Duke travels to Campbell on Wednesday. Friday's slate finds North Carolina at Virginia for a conference match, while Maryland makes the short trip to Navy. Saturday will be a busy day with NC State wrestling at Maryland in an ACC match, then traveling to Navy in non-conference action. The Wolfpack will be joined in Annapolis by North Carolina, who will also wrestle the Midshipmen. Another ACC match is set at Virginia, where the Cavaliers will play host to Virginia Tech. After playing host to NC State, Maryland will remain at home for an ACC match vs. Duke. The Blue Devils will also wrestle American in College Park on Saturday.

After starting the match with a quick takedown, Vliem needed just 44 seconds to pin Nick Shandri of the Peacocks in the lone U-Mary action of the week. The third-ranked 197-pounder in NCAA Super Region #3, Vliem improved his season record to 11-2.
Iowa’s Marion Named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week By Dan Mihalik Big Ten ConferenceMontell Marion was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week for the first time in his career after recording a win in the 141-pound bout in No. 1 Iowa’s 19-16 victory over No. 4 Oklahoma State on Saturday night. Marion, who is unranked, took on the fourth-ranked grappler in the 141-pound weight class, Jamal Parks. After a scoreless first period, the sophomore escaped to start the second stanza, then scored a takedown to take a 3-0 lead into the third frame. Parks could not escape as Marion won by a 4-0 decision, improving his record to 12-2 on the season. Dubuque's Josh Terrell named Iowa Conference Wrestler of the Week By Josh Schroeder Iowa Conference Josh Terrell, University of Dubuque, Beach Park, Ill./Round Lake Terrell, a senior 165-pounder, helped the No. 22-ranked Spartans upset No. 10-ranked Cornell, 22-20, by throwing Alex Riniker in 38 seconds in the final match of the dual. His overall record improved to 13-4.
