The University of St. Thomas announced Friday that as part of university-wide budget reductions for 2001-2002, the institution will discontinue its varsity wrestling program and its junior-varsity teams in men's soccer and men's hockey.    St. Thomas competes in NCAA Division III and the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Only five other MIAC institutions field wrestling teams, and junior-varsity programs vary by sport and by institution.
