Happy Holidays wrestling fans. TDR returns to the Brute adidas home studios for our 2nd show of December.
TDR This week:
Rob Koll - Head Coach of Cornell University. Cornell wrestling's Mack Lewnes has been named EIWA wrestler of the week after winning the title at 174 pounds at the Las Vegas Invitational last weekend. Lewnes went 5-0 for the weekend with three bonus wins to help the Big Red to finish in second place as a team.
Steve Garland - Head Coach of University of Virginia. The Virginia wrestling team has signed nine student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for 2010-11. Garland and his staff - associate head coach Scott Moore and assistant coach Alex Clemsen - once again have secured a premier crop of decorated student-athletes.
Jim Heffernan - Head Coach of the University of Illinois. As the only remaining wrestler for Illinois at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, fourth-seeded and ninth-ranked John Dergo knew it was up to him to give the Illini a positive feeling heading into next Saturday's home duals against Findlay and McKendree. He didn't disappoint, upsetting top-seeded and third-ranked Mike Pucillo of Ohio State.
Tom Ryan - Head Coach of Ohio State University. Behind 141-pound champion Reece Humphrey and runners-up Lance Palmer and Colt Sponseller, the third-ranked Ohio State wrestling team captured the 2009 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Wrestling Invitational team title.
Brad Zaun - once a wrestler at Dowling of West Des Moines, State Senator Zaun, 47, an Urbandale Republican, joins fellow Republicans Jim Gibbons of Des Moines and Dave Funk of Runnells in setting their sights on the June 8 primary. It will be the first campaign in 10 years when more than one Republican has sought the nomination to challenge Boswell for the 3rd District House seat.
Frank "The Answer" Edger - Asst. Coach of Rutgers, The patriotic Edger defeated Matt Veach at TUF 10 with a submission at 2:22 in the 2nd round at the Palms, Las Vegas. Edger is ready for the main event and wants his shot. Credits wrestling in his success.
