Boston, MA/Colorado Springs, CO - Not everybody has the finances to reach into their pocket and make a sizeable contribution. However, it's wrestlers, coaches, and parents that are the biggest supporters of our sport.
With the recent release of a new product, this is a great opportunity to donate to the Living the Dream Medal Fund in a collaborative manner.
There are a lot of coaches and parents that are purchasing TheWrestlinGame during this time of year. Why not provide them the opportunity to contribute to a great cause while doing so?
All donations will be made on December 31st. Our internet sales for TheWrestlinGame will be tracked and the names of all buyers will be listed as contributors to the Living the Dream Medal Fund. There's a reciprocity that will benefit both USA Wrestling and the buyers of the WrestlinGame. We're excited to be contributing to such a worthwhile cause.
The WrestlinGame is a training device that provides participants with the option of minimal contact for the Physical Education environment or full contact for the wrestling room.
Daniel Coyle (Author of the New York Times bestseller Lance Armstrong's War) describes the importance of deep practice in his book "The Talent Code." The WrestlinGame is an application that allows coaches and physical educators to breakdown set-ups, offense, and finishes associated with the sport of wrestling while focusing on gross and fine motor movements, agility, coordination, and explosive speed; all necessary components for the aspiring wrestler.
The idea behind the WrestlinGame is not to teach one area of wrestling at a time, but rather to play the game and through deep practice and regular correction and supplementation, add to the nature of what is being taught. An introductory level game may consist of a "protect your flags while you try to steal mine" from both the neutral and mat positions. Over time, the instructor will supplement by having the students keep their elbows in, add a set-up, correct stance, improve upon movement or scrambling, introduce level changing, improve upon sprawling and reshots, introduce fakes and misdirection, etc. TheWrestlinGame is currently being used in Physical Education classrooms and wrestling rooms, from youth to college, around the country.
National AAHPERD Standards 1 through 6 are addressed as participants demonstrate an understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as applied to the learning and performance of Amateur Wrestling in a fun and socially responsible manner within the Physical Education forum. The WrestlinGame was recently featured at the State Conference for the Massachusetts Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.
"Finally someone has created a safe yet realistic game that simulates the same valuable skills necessary to be a successful wrestler."
- Mitch Clark, Division I NCAA Champion
"I played the WrestlinGame with Aaron's three year old daughter after a weekend clinic in Massachusetts. When I tried to grab her anklet, she grabbed my wrist, changed her level, and attacked my anklet simultaneously. I was impressed with her lateral motion and the way a three year old kid tied these fundamentals together. Fun game. Great stuff."
- Henry Cejudo, 2008 55kg Olympic Gold Medalist, Freestyle Wrestling
