Sixteen state teams spanning the country are set to battle at the 2001 NWCA/USA Wrestling Kellogg's Scholastic Duals on April 6-7 at Battle Creek, Michigan. The Kellogg's Scholastic Duals is a showcase for upcoming talent as no seniors are allowed to compete in this state versus state, folkstyle dual meet competition. Many of the top underclassmen in the country will be representing one of the sixteen participating teams competing at the Kellogg Arena. This year's field includes state all-star teams from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Ohio, Colorado, Oregon, Indiana, Michigan, New England and Illinois. Several of the states will enter two teams to round out the sixteen-team field. Last year's field was highlighted with 54 high school state champions representing 67 high school state championships. This year's field will be as equally as talented. New Jersey will look to defend the title they won last year by the way of a 44-12 win over Oregon. The event is scheduled to begin each day at 9:00 A.M. with subsequent rounds at 11:00, 3:00 and 7:00. The championship finals along with the consolation finals are scheduled for 7:00 P.M. on Saturday evening. Updates can be found throughout the event on the themat.com. The scholastic duals are sponsored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, USA Wrestling, Kellogg's, Cliff Keen Athletics, Martin Screen Prints and Kennedy Industries.
