To accommodate coaches who need to be certified at the Copper level for the tournaments in Las Vegas, the Copper course will be offered on both Wednesday and Thursday April 11th and 12th. The Copper Course is the first level of the National Coaches Education Program offered through USA Wrestling. In order to gain free admission at USA Wrestling events, all coaches must have a minimum Copper Certification. The cost of the course is $25 and will be completed by noon, as to not interfere with the tournament. Coaches that need to participate in the Copper course either Wednesday or Thursday need to register that day. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. If you have questions regarding your NCEP status please contact the NCEP Manager at twitulski@usawrestling.org or call Ted Witulski at (719) 598-8181. For a schedule of events surrounding U.S. Nationals visit the following url: http://www.lvsports.org/events/wrestling.schedule.html Please read the following message regarding the need for Copper Certification. Please read this carefully, it does pertain to you or someone you know..... At the recent USA Wrestling board meeting, a new coaching rule was passed. I want to be sure that you understand it, because it WILL be in effect at Senior Nationals in Las Vegas. IN ORDER TO GAIN FREE ADMISSION TO ANY USA WRESTLING NATIONAL EVENT, YOU MUST POSSESS A USA WRESTLING COACH'S MEMBERSHIP CARD AND BE A MINIMUM OF NCEP COPPER CERTIFIED. Even if you are coaching and you request a FLOOR PASS to coach, you must still have ADMISSION into the event. In other words, this means that you must now be at least Copper Certified to get in the door for free, then you need a floor pass to coach (which is free at the US Nationals). So, all the senior coaches of senior clubs must be at least copper certified if they do not want to pay for admission. This is not preventing anyone from coaching, it just means you have to pay admission if you do not have NCEP certification. Certification is lifetime, it is not something you have to do every year. (Only membership is annual) So this new rule just adds more benefit to being certified.
