Dear Coach:    Enclosed you will find information pertaining to the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic Wrestling Teams.  The forms include the individual nomination form, the team nomination form, and the criteria sheet.    The individual nomination form needs to be completed and received by our office on or before April 20 (postmarked no later than April 17).  Forms that are not completely filled out will not be accepted.  You may nominate anyone on your team who has a 3.0 GPA and has attended your institution for one full year.  This individual cannot be a true freshman.  The wrestler must have also accomplished one of the following:  1) won 60% of his total schedule; 2) placed fourth or better in the conference or regional qualifier; or 3) be an NCAA qualifier.    The team nomination form does not require that the team members attend your institution for one full year.  True freshmen and transfers are eligible.  Of the twelve people listed on your application, ten must have wrestled in your qualifier.  The other two can be individuals who competed in at least one varsity match.    You must follow the information on the criteria sheet to have your individual or team considered for the NWCA All-Academic honors.  The criteria have been set up to give athletic excellence as well as academic excellence equal consideration.  The April 20th (postmarked no later than April 17) deadline will be strictly enforced.  There will be no exceptions for late arriving materials!    I will head a committee of coaches that selects the first team consisting of ten wrestlers, the second team consisting of ten wrestlers, and the honorable mention team consisting of thirty wrestlers.
