COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A late night on the mat didn't appear to faze Michigan's C.C. Weber.

It also didn't seem to bother a dozen other wrestlers who claimed titles in the FILA Cadet class as the Body Bar Women's Nationals started on Friday at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.

Weber overcame an early deficit to defeat California's Samantha Lopez in the FILA Cadet freestyle finals at 49 kg/108 lbs. Weber rallied to win the first period 4-3 before recording a fall in the second period. Lopez was a returning champion in this event.

Weber was named Outstanding Wrestler in the FILA Cadet class. She won a FILA Cadet title at the 2006 Body Bar event.

Weber recently placed eighth at the U.S. Nationals in the Senior division at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. She is scheduled to compete in FILA Juniors on Saturday at 48 kilos.

Champions in the weight classes from 40 kg to 70 kg qualify for the Cadet Pan American Championships on July 11-13 in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Wrestlers who repeated as champions from 2007 included Oklahoma's Hanna Martin (43 kg/94.75 lbs.), California's Victoria Anthony (46 kg/101.25 lbs.) and Maryland's Helen Maroulis (52 kg/114.5 lbs.). Anthony downed 2006 and 2007 FILA Cadet champion Carlene Sluberski of New York 2-0, 6-0 in the finals.

The FILA Cadet competition wrapped up around 11 o'clock on Friday night in Colorado Springs.

Wrestling will resume Saturday afternoon in the FILA Junior division. In addition, a Girls Freestyle National Championship will be held for two age divisions, grades 3-6 and grades 7-8. The Girls Championships also are scheduled for Saturday.
