Ben and John Peterson to speak at 14th annual Champions Breakfast at NCAAs on Friday, March 21

For the 14th year, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Wrestling Coaches Association are hosting a "Champion's Breakfast" in conjunction with the NCAA Div. I Wrestling Championships.

This year, the breakfast will be held on Friday, March 21, at 7:30 a.m., at the Hyatt Regency at Union Station in St. Louis, Mo. It will be held in Ballrooms A, B, C. This hotel is located three blocks from Scottrade Center.

The keynote speakers are the Olympic champion Peterson brothers, Ben and John. They will provide a special Good Friday Easter message during the breakfast.

This is a free event for all NWCA coaches and members, and costs $10 for the General public.  Coaches and teams competing in the NCAA Championships can receive free tickets, plus the general public can sign up and pay at the NWCA booth in the Scottrade Center during the first round of competition on Thursday, March 20.

Ben Peterson was a member of three U.S. Olympic Teams. He won a gold medal at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, West Germany and a silver medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Canada. He qualified for the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team which did not get to compete due to the U.S. government boycott of the Moscow Olympics.

Ben Peterson won two NCAA titles and was a three-time All-American competing for Iowa State. He currently runs Camp of Champs, wrestling camps in his home state of Wisconsin, along with his brother John.

John Peterson was an Olympic gold medalist at the 1976 Montreal Olympics and a silver medalist at the 1972 Munich Olympics. He also won three World Cup titles. In college, he was a NAIA All-American competing for the Univ. of Wisconsin-Stout. 

John has shared his faith with people around the world working with Athletes in Action and Campus Crusade for Christ. For 10 years, John Peterson based his ministry in Eastern Europe. He now resides in Wisconsin, but continues with several trips a year to Russia and Mongolia.

Both brothers are Distinguished Members of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

In addition, there will be an inspiring testimony from former Oklahoma Univ. All-American wrestler, and professional wrestler, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams, who was the author of How Dr. Death became Dr. Life.

Nate Carr, an Olympic bronze medalist and three-time NCAA champion from Iowa State, will also participate in the breakfast.
