Olympic Team Trials qualification process kicks-off with two events Saturday, March 15

A lot of wrestlers have Olympic dreams, but starting March 15 some of them will be one step closer to achieving those dreams.
The first two qualifiers for the Olympic Team Trials for Wrestling take place Saturday, March 15.
Women's freestyle wrestlers have a chance to qualify at the 2008 Women's College Nationals and Greco-Roman wrestlers can earn a spot at the 2008 Armed Forces Championships.
The U.S. Olympic Trials for wrestling are set for Las Vegas, Nev., June 13-15 at the Thomas and Mack Center on the campus of Nevada-Las Vegas. The event will determine which U.S. athlete will compete in each weight class at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.
The Women's College Nationals are set to take place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The competition will be held in conjunction with the USA Wrestling Girls' Folkstyle Championships. The champion from each of the seven World Championships weight categories will receive a berth to the Olympic Trials.
The schedule for Women's College Nationals is as follows:
- Preliminaries to Quarterfinals: 9 a.m.-Noon
- Semifinals and consolation rounds: 1-3 p.m.
- 3rd & 5th place matches: 4-5:30 p.m.
- Championship matches: 7:30-9 p.m.

The 2008 Armed Forces Greco-Roman Championships will be hosted in New Orleans, La. The competition is a dual meet format. Champions in each weight class are determined by overall record at the competition and will earn a spot in the U.S Olympic Team Trials.
The Armed Forces Championships schedule is:
- Opening Ceremony: 9-9:30 a.m.
- First session dual meets: 10-11:30 a.m.
- Second session dual meets: Noon-1:30 p.m.
- Third session dual meets: 3-4:30 p.m.
A number of other qualifiers still remain leading up to the Olympic Team Trials.
Athletes in men's freestyle and Greco-Roman also have chances to qualify at the 2008 U.S. Senior Nationals, the University Nationals, and four different Olympic Regional Trials competitions.
For women's freestyle, three other qualifiers are set to take place. Wrestlers will have the opportunity at the U.S. Senior Nationals, University Nationals, and one regional competition in Waterloo, Iowa.

April 10-13 - ASICS University National Championships at Akron, Ohio
April 24-26 - Las Vegas U.S. National Championships at Las Vegas, Nev.
May 8-10 - Northern Plains Olympic Regional Trials at Waterloo, Iowa
May 15-17 - Rocky Mountain Olympic Regional Trials at Pueblo, Colo.
