ISTANBUL, Turkey - Lindsey Durlacher captured a silver medal at 55 kg/121 lbs. to lead the list of U.S. Greco-Roman finishers at the Vehbi Emre Golden Grand Prix on Jan. 26-27.

Durlacher (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC), a past World bronze medalist, was the lone American to win a medal in the event. Six members of the U.S. team that won the 2007 World Championships participated in the tournament.

Americans Brad Vering (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) and Mark Rial (Colorado Springs, Colo./Gator WC) each placed fifth in the event.

The U.S. team placed fifth with 26 points. Turkey crowned champions in six of seven weight classes to win the event with 68 points. Belarus was a distant second with 49 points.

Durlacher, who placed fifth in the World in 2007, rattled off three wins before falling to Turkey's Huseyin Aygun in the finals. Durlacher downed Uzbekistan's Ildar Hafizov, who also was fifth in the 2007 Worlds, in the semifinals. Hafizov beat American Sam Hazewinkel (Norman, Okla./Gator WC) in the second round.

Vering, a 2007 World silver medalist, lost in the second round to Shalva Gadabadze of Azerbaijan at 84 kg/185 lbs. Vering rebounded to win his next two matches in the Repechage before falling to Turkey's Muhammet Yucedag in the bronze-medal match.

Rial won his first two bouts to reach the semifinals at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. before dropping his match with Turkey's Seref Eroglu. Rial then lost to Mikkiail Siamonad of Belarus in the bronze-medal match.
