EASTON, Pa. - What is the best dual-meet wrestling team in the nation?
That question could be answered Saturday, January 19 when the NHSCA presents the 11th annual Final Four of High School Wrestling at Easton High School.
The event annually matches five of the top dual-meet teams in the nation, and this year's lineup promises another day of outstanding competition.
This year's Final Four field: Blairstown (N.J.) Blair Academy, Stafford (Va.) Colonial Forge High, Taylors (S.C.) Eastside High, Camden Wyoming (Del.) Caesar Rodney High and the host school, Easton High. Colonial Forge won its first Group 3A state title last season, has four nationally-ranked individuals and has been ranked in the top 10 nationally this season. Eastside, the five-time defending Class 3A state dual and individual champion, will bring a lineup that includes five state champions. Caesar Rodney, making its second trip to the Lehigh Valley this month, will wrestle Colonial Forge in the third round.
Blair Academy, the winner of last year's Final Four, is ranked No. 2 nationally and Easton also is flirting with a top 10 national ranking.
"We had four rounds of outstanding competition at last year's Final Four," NHSCA associate executive director Bob Ferraro Jr. said. "The most fun about it is the way the excitement builds throughout the day, all the way to the final round. It's just a very special event."
The Final Four will consist of four rounds, at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 and 4 p.m. on two mats. The order of wrestling will be as follows:
