CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestler Cody Cleveland was named Southern Conference Athlete of the Month.

A sophomore from Tullahoma, Tenn., Cleveland produced a 9-2 record in December. After a 4-3 victory in the Mocs' dual match against No. 8 Missouri, Cleveland earned a fourth-place finish at the prestigious Midlands Championships in Evanston, Ill.

At the Midlands, the 141-pound wrestler competed in 10 matches over two days and forged an 8-2 mark. After dropping down to the consolation bracket, he wrestled his way back to the medal rounds and placed fourth. During the tournament, he registered a pin, two technical falls and two major decisions.

Cleveland's finish helped the 10th-ranked Mocs finish seventh at the event. His performance also led to a national ranking of No. 16 by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

The wrestlers will compete this weekend at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
