The gold medal finals pairings have been set at the New York AC Holiday International in men's freestyle on Sunday.

The only returning champion in the field, Vic Moreno of the Gator WC, qualified for the finals at 55 kg/121 lbs. He won a controversial semifinal match against Joe Dubuque (Hempstead, N.Y./New York AC). In the third period, with the score tied, a buzzer went off on the next mat. Both wrestlers stopped wrestling, but Moreno realized that the period was still going and took down Dubuque, who was defenseless. Officials awarded Moreno the point for the takedown, which determined the winner.

2005 World champion Alan Dudaev of Russia has advanced to the finals at 66 kg/145.5 lbs., defeating local hero Jesse Jantzen (Cambridge, Mass./New York AC)…. Dudaev had a three-point takedown in the first period for the edge, then scored the only point of the second period from the leg clinch.

2006 World bronze medalist Donny Pritzlaff (Madison, Wis./New York AC) qualified for the finals at 74 kg/163 lbs., after defeating Travis Paulson by injury default in the semifinals.

Pritzlaff will face Ben Askren (Columbia, Mo./Sunkist Kids) in the finals. Askren defeated Freestyle National Team member Ramico Blackmon (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) in a competitive three-period match, 0-2, 1-0, 2-0.
