COLLEGE WRESTLERS OF THE WEEK: Purdue's Patacsil honored by Big Ten

Purdue's Jake Patacsil has been named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week.

Patacsil, ranked eighth nationally and one of Purdue's team captains, captured the 149-pound title at the Eastern Michigan Open on Saturday.

The junior posted a perfect 5-0 mark to start the year. Patacsil was able to shut out each of his opponents including a trio of 16-0 technical falls and a 1:59 pin. The pin was the 17th of his career which moves him into 16th on the Boilermakers career list. This is Patacsil's first weekly Big Ten honor of his career.

Maryland's Letts honored by ACC

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland sophomore Mike Letts was named the first ACC Wrestler of the Week for the 2007-08 season after a perfect 3-0 showing this weekend at the Fighting Scot Duals in Edinboro. Letts earned a technical fall, a major decision, and a victory against a top 20 opponent.

Letts opened the season at 174 pounds with a 15-0 technical fall which he completed in seven minutes against Dean Gaier of Army. He then handled Mercyhurst's Josh Shields in his second match with a 14-5 major decision and then notched his most impressive victory, beating No. 17 Phil Moricone of Edinboro, 5-3, in the feature match of the day.

The Terps (2-1) are back on the road on Sunday, November 11 when they head to University Park to take on No. 11 Penn State.
