GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado head wrestling coach, Jack Maughan, today announced the addition of Ben Cherrington to his staff as an assistant coach.

Cherrington was a three-time Colorado high school champion for Middle Park High School, posting a 141-3 record. He went on to win two PAC-10 individual championships as well as the 2006 NCAA Division I National Championship at 157 while wrestling for Boise State. Cherrington's overall collegiate record was 93-32, including a mark of 54-8 for an 87.1 winning percentage his final two seasons. He spent this last season serving as a volunteer coach at his alma mater, Boise State.

"We are excited to add a National Champion to our staff," Maughan said. "He is a great competitor and a quality person who will add a lot our program. His father, Cal, was a top high school coach so Ben is knowledgeable of the facets of coaching."

Cherrington will start immediately.
