The University of Northern Iowa wrestling team comes into the West Regional with an 11-8 dual meet record and ranked 15th in the nation by InterMat. The Panthers faced some tough competition this year, as they wrestled 10 teams in the top 25, including six teams currently ranked in the top 10.  Sophomore  heavyweight Paul Hynek leads the Panthers.  Hynek is ranked ninth by InterMat and has a record of 24-4, including eight pins. Other ranked Panthers going to Wyoming are Eric Brown (174, 19th) and Kyle Hansen (184, 15th).    Wyoming is the host school for this year's West Regional Tournament. The Cowboys posted a 8-6 dual record this season, with wins over West Region schools Eastern Illinois and Marquette.  Wyoming faced some tough competition as they wrestled five teams in the top 25.  UNI defeated the Cowboys 30-6, this year.    Fresno State comes into the West Regional with a 13-6 record and InterMat has them ranked 16th in the nation.  The Bulldogs have the number one ranked wrestler, Stephen Abas, at 125.  Three other Bulldogs are ranked in the top 20 -- Derrick Hayes (133, 16th), Nathan Vasquez (157, 9th), and Billy Blunt (Hwt, 7th).  Fresno State has competed against eight teams in the top 25.  The Panthers defeated the Bulldogs 25-10 at the Lone Star Duals, earlier this year.    Eastern Illinois ended its regular season with a 3-9 dual meet record. The Panthers three wins came over Franklin & Marshall, Eastern Michigan and Southern Illinois - Edwardsville.  EIU has faced three teams in the West Region -- Marquette, Wyoming and Northern Iowa.  This year, UNI defeated the EIU 41-3.  Louis Taylor had the lone win at 174.  Marquette travels to Wyoming with a record of 2-9.  One of the Golden Eagles victories came to West Region*s Eastern Illinois. Marquette has faced four teams in the top 25 including Northern Iowa.  UNI won this year*s match up 46-4.    Air Force had a winning season as they posted a 7-2 regular season record.  The Falcons defeated Wyoming but fell short to West Region's Fresno State.  AFA has two indivdual wrestlers ranked in InterMat's top 20 -- Scott Frohardt (149, 20th) and Kevin Hoy (Hwt, 15th). The Panthers have never faced Air Force in head to head competition.
