Between the semifinals and the finals matches, Big 12 coaches met to decide which wrestlers would receive Wildcard bids to participate at the NCAA Division I Championships in Iowa City, Iowa, March 15-17. Those receiving wildcard bids include:  125 - Justin Spates (MO)  133 - Witt Durden (OU)  165 - Chris Pendleton (OSU)  174 - John Kopinsky (MU)  174 - Michael Barger (OU)  197 - Waymond May (OU)  *Alternates: 285-Scott Barker (MU) and 157-Brian Burrows (OU)      Updated brackets also are available in our special coverage section.    Final Team Scores  Oklahoma State - 85  Oklahoma - 68  Iowa State - 67.5  Nebraska - 50  Missouri - 10.5        125 Pounds  Pigtail  No pigtail at 125. Jacob Moore withdrew from the tournament putting Justin Spates into the semifinals.    Semifinals  Matt Ridings (OU) dec. Justin Spates (MU), 3-1  Jason Powell (NU) dec. Matt Brown (OSU), 4-1    Finals  3rd - Matt Brown (OSU) dec. Justin Spates (MU), 4-3  1st - Jason Powell (NU) dec. Matt Ridings (OU), 5-1  A scramble at the end of the first period offered scoring opportunities for both wrestlers, but no points were awarded as the period ended.  Ridings started the second period in the down position, but quickly escaped for a 1-0 lead. Powell countered a shot by Ridings for a takedown and nearfall. At the end of the second period, Powell leads 4-1 with :46 seconds of riding time.  Powell started with third period down and escaped in 5 seconds, he now leads 5-1. Powell countered a single-leg shot by Ridings but a stalemate was called and no points were awarded. A last minute takedown was not completed before the whistle, Powell wins by decison, 5-1.        133 Pounds  Pigtail  Will Durden (OU) maj. dec. Jesse West (MU), 12-9     Finals  3rd - Matt Azevedo (ISU) dec. Will Durden (OU), 2-1  1st - Johnny Thompson (OSU) dec. Todd Beckerman (NU), 3-2   At the end of the first period, the score remains 0-0. Beckerman started the second period down, but escaped within 3 seconds to take a 1-0 lead. With 36 seconds left in the second period, both wrestlers were warned for stalling. At the end of the second period, Beckerman lead 1-0. Thompson started down and escaped with 1:40 left in the third. The match is now tied at 1-1, Beckerman has :18 second of riding time. Beckerman countered a double-leg shot with a whizzer before the wrestlers went out of bounds. With :34 seconds left, Thompson hits a double-leg takedown, Beckerman escapes with :3 seconds left. Thompson wins the match 3-2.        141 Pounds  Pigtail  JP Reese (MU) dec. Charles Walker (OSU), 8-4  Lightner scored a takedown with 1:32 left in the first period, but Walker scored an escape within 8 seconds. At the end of the first period, Lightner lead 1-0. Lightner began the second period down and reversed Walker with 1:30 seconds remaining. After a quick escape, Lightner leads 4-2. Lightner scores abother takedown off a single-leg with :40 seconds remaining in the second period. At the end of the second period, Lightner lead 6-2. Walker began the third period down and escaped in 4 seconds. Lightner hit another takedown with 1:20 left in the third period, followed by an escape. Lightner wins the match 8-4.      149 Pounds  Pigtail  Billy Maldanodo (ISU) maj. dec. Travis Baker (NU), 11-3    Semifinals  Reggie Wright (OSU) dec. Billy Maldanodo (ISU), 6-2  Jared Frayer (OU) tech fall Kenny Burleson (MU), 15-0    Consolations  Kenny Burleson (MU) dec. Travis Baker (NU), 4-1    Finals  3rd - Billy Maldanodo (ISU) dec. Kenny Burleson (MU), 8-4  1st - Reggie Wright (OSU) dec. Jared Frayer (OU), 3-0  No score in the first period. Frayer began the second period down, but Wright managed to ride him the entire second period. The score remains 0-0; Wright has 2 minutes of riding time. Wright started the third period down and reversed Frayer with 1:48 left, he rode our Frayer for a 3-0 win.        157 Pounds  Pigtail  Brian Burrows (OU) dec. Jesse Jordan (MU), 5-3    Semifinals  Bryan Snyder (NU) maj. dec. Brian Burrows (OU), 19-7  Cole Sanderson (ISU) pinned Shane Roller (OSU); 2:25  *With very controversial call, Cole Sanderson pinned Shane Roller with :35 second left in the first period.    Consolations  Shane Roller (OSU) dec. Jesse Jordan (MU), 8-4    Finals  3rd - Shane Roller (OSU) dec. Brian Burrows (OU), 10-7  1st - Bryan Snyder (NU) dec. Cole Sanderson (ISU), 9-5  Sanderson scores first on a rollthrough; Snyder escapes in 5 seconds. With :38 seconds left in the first period, Snyder hits a double-leg takedown. At the end of the first period, Snyder lead 3-2 but has two cautions. Snyder starts the second period down and escapes in 3 seconds, he now leads 4-2. A quick ankle pick by Snyder was ruled out of bounds; no points scored. At the end of the second period, Snyder leads 4-2 with :26 seconds of riding time. Sanderson starts the third period down and escapes in 7 seconds; Snyder leads 4-3. With 1:08 left in the match, Snyder scores a double-leg takedown. Sanderson nearly reverses Snyder, but is awarded an escape at the edge. With :14 seconds left, Snyder hits another double-leg takedown. With :8 seconds left Snyder receives his third caution for a point. With the riding time advantage, Snyder wins the match 9-5.      165 Pounds  Pigtail  Tony Denke (NU) maj. dec. Mark Vollman (MU), 14-5    Semifinals  Joe Heskett (ISU) maj. dec. Tony Denke (NU), 13-2  Robbie Waller (OU) dec. Chris Pendleton (OSU), 11-9 OT  *At the start of overtime, Pendleton got a quick takedown at the whistle. However, the ref had stopped the match because the clock was not set properly. The overtime was started over again, and Waller scored a takedown to win the much contested match. OSU protested the match, but the protest committee denied it.    Consolations  Chris Pendleton (OSU) dec. Mark Vollman (MU), 5-2     Finals  3rd - Tony Denke (NU) win by injury default Chris Pendleton (OSU)  1st - Joe Heskett (ISU) dec. Robbie Waller (OU), 5-1  With :58 seconds left in the first period, both wrestlers are warned for stalling. Heskett begin the second period down and reverses Waller with a granby; no nearfall counted. Heskett now leads 2-0. Waller earns an escape with :53 seconds left. At the end of 2, Heskett leads 2-1. Waller chose to start the third period neutral. With 1:18 left, Heskett scores a takedown at the edge of the match to go ahead 4-1 and hangs on through the end of the third period to establish riding time advantage. Heskett wins the match, 5-1 with riding time.      174 Pounds  Pigtail  John Kopinsky (MU) dec. Ati Conner (NU), 8-7    Semifinals  Tyrone Lewis (OSU) dec. John Kopinsky (MU), 9-4  True 4th - Michael Barger (OU) pinned John Kopinsky (MU), 1:29  1st - Tyrone Lewis (OSU) pinned Perry Parks (ISU), 1:29  Lewis scored quickly with a takedown in the first 7 seconds of the match; Parks escaped in 10 seconds.
