Travis Paulson (Council Bluffs, Iowa/Iowa State University) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Dec. 12-18.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. The announcement will be made each week on Wednesday.

The fourth-ranked Paulson scored a 7-4 win over No. 6 Nick Baima at 165 pounds to lift fifth-ranked Iowa State to a 38-3 dual-meet win over Northern Iowa on Dec. 17 at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.

Travis Paulson is 11-1 this season and 88-26 in his career.

Paulson, a senior, is a two-time All-American. His twin brother, Trent, also a two-time All-American, is ranked No. 1 at 157 pounds.

Travis Paulson placed fourth earlier this year at the U.S. World Team Trials in freestyle at 74 kg/163 pounds.
