Joe Heskett -   (Columbus, Ohio/Gator WC) Assistant at The Ohio State University and 1 of 3 TheMat.com/ Takedownradio Athletes of the week Brought to you by Asics.  Heskett won a gold medal at 74 kg/163 lbs. in men's freestyle wrestling at the Henri Deglane Challenge in Nice, France, Nov. 24-25. He was one of four U.S. individual champions at the event, which featured competition in all three international wrestling styles.

Heskett won all three of his matches, including a victory over 2000 Olympic silver medalist Arsen Gitinov of Russia in the gold-medal finals. He also stopped Carsevan Vardanyan of Armenia in the semifinals and Carlos Dominguez Fernandez of CAT Club in the quarterfinals. This was the first time that Heskett has won the Henri Deglane Challenge title, after winning medals at this event in three previous attempts. Heskett was a NCAA champion and four-time All-American for Iowa State Univ. and is currently ranked No. 2 at his weight class in the United States by TheMat.com. Heskett named TheMat.com/ TakedownRadio Wrestler of the Week for Nov. 21-27.

Nick Simmons- 2 of 3 TheMat.com/ Takedownradio Athletes of the week Brought to you by Asics. Simmons, a senior at Michigan State and a three-time All-American at 125 pounds, knocked off defending 133-pound NCAA champion Matt Valenti of Penn on Sunday, Nov. 12 in the finals of the Michigan State Open. Simmons scored a reversal against Valenti with 30 seconds remaining to win the match 2-0. Simmons is 9-0 this season at 133.

Simmons has placed seventh, fourth and fourth in the NCAA Championships at 125 for the Spartans.  He's a top prospect internationally and competed at the World University Championships in freestyle this past summer in Mongolia, finishing 1-1 at 60 kg/132 pounds. Simmons placed third at the 2005 U.S. World Team Trials at 55 kg/121 pounds. Nick Simmons named TheMat.com / TakedownRadio Wrestler of the Week for Nov. 7-13

Ryan Morningstar -  3 of 3 theMat.com/ Takedownradio Athletes of the week Brought to you by Asics. A redshirt freshman at Iowa who was ranked No. 15 nationally, upset two-time All-American and top-ranked Trent Paulson of Iowa State 3-2 at 157 pounds to cap Iowa's 24-6 win over Iowa State on Dec. 3 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. The meet drew a crowd of 13,732, the 11th-largest crowd for a dual meet in NCAA history. Morningstar has compiled a 6-3 record this season. He was a three-time Iowa state champion in high school and a Junior Nationals champion. Morningstar, whose father Scott wrestled for Northern Iowa, posted a 12-1 record in open tournaments while competing unattached during his redshirt year at Iowa.
