The National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum and USA Wrestling announced the launch of the Legends Fund for 2007.
"Brochures are now being mailed directly to those we feel would have an interest in contributing to both the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum and USA Wrestling," said Lee Roy Smith, Executive Director of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
"The Legends Fund concept originated with our Board of Governors who have an interest in both USA Wrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Our board members felt we should unite for the common purpose of growing the sport and honoring its legends," Smith said.
Funds donated to the Legends Fund support the operational expenses of both organizations on a 50/50 basis, unless they are earmarked by the donor for a specific purpose.
"Both USA Wrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum want to do more, but need additional funding to provide the kind of programs, services and activities that will grow the sport and recognize its legends," said Rich Bender, Executive Director of USA Wrestling.
"We ultimately want everyone to understand that a contribution to the Legends Fund is how you can best support the sport and its two major organizations. We believe the sport contributes to a better society, one wrestler at a time, because of the values of hard work, discipline and self control it instills in those who participate," said Bender.
If you do not receive a Legends Fund brochure by December 20, 2006 and would like one, you may contact USA Wrestling at 719-598-8181 or the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum at 405-377-5243, or visit online for more information at:
