FILA coaches clinic to draw top international names on Nov. 9-12 in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Some of the biggest names in international wrestling will converge on Colorado Springs on Nov. 9-12 for the FILA Advanced School for Coaches in Freestyle Wrestling.

Among the coaches scheduled to speak and instruct will be Youri Shakhmuradov of Russia, Stephan Kazarian of Armenia, Harold Tunnemann of Germany and Dan Gable of the United States.

The event will be held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

Coaches from Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, China, Columbia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Germany, Haiti, India, Iran, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Yemen, Zimbabwe, Russia, Armenia and the U.S. are among those expected to take part in the program.

USA Wrestling National Freestyle Coach Kevin Jackson, USA Wrestling National Freestyle Resident Coach Terry Brands and USA Wrestling National Greco-Roman Coach Steve Fraser also will lead sessions during the four-day program. Jackson was a two-time World Champion and Olympic Champion, Brands a two-time World Champion and Fraser an Olympic Champion.

"The FILA coaches course is an important tool in the development of coaching around the World," said Mitch Hull, USA Wrestling's National Teams Director. "We're excited to have the privilege of hosting the course this year.

"We have three highly recognized individuals coming in internationally with Youri Shakhmuradov, Stephan Kazarian and Harold Tunnemann. And we also have one of the greatest international wrestlers of all-time in (1972 Olympic Gold Medalist) Dan Gable. What also makes this a great course is the strength our National Coaching Staff."

The FILA coaches program begins on Thursday morning, Nov. 9 and concludes at noon on Sunday, Nov. 12.
