Ethan Bosch, 36, a former US Open National Champion, a U.S. Olympic alternate, and a wrestler with international experience, was named assistant wrestling coach at Clarion University, it was announced today by Clarion A.D. Dave Katis.
Bosch will be the first assistant under new Clarion head coach Teague Moore, who was named May 15th to take over the Golden Eagles NCAA Division I Wrestling program.
"We're really excited to have Ethan on board," said Moore. "The assets he brings to our wrestling program are second to none. Ethan knows wrestling, has great experience and brings a knowledge to our wrestling room that will be extremely valuable. More than that, he has the character qualities that will make every athlete and parent proud to be part of the Clarion wrestling family."
Bosch spent 12 years (1993-2005) wrestling for the United States in the Greco-Roman style. He was a 10-time placewinner at the US Open Nationals competing mostly at 84kg, and was a member of the Greco-Roman US National team from 2000-2004. He was the 2002 US Open National Champion at 84kg and also took a Bronze medal at the World Cup in 2002 and 2001. In 2000 Ethan was second in Greco at the US Olympic Team Trials at 85kg and was an Olympic alternate. Overall, he won 26 medals in international tournaments between 1996-2005.
Bosch comes to Clarion from nearby Blackhawk High School (Beaver Falls, Pa.), where he was the head wrestling coach in the 2005-06 season. He led the Cougars to a 5-7 dual meet record and also taught in the school district.
A native of South Wales, N.Y., Ethan attended Iroquois Central High School and graduated in 1988. He posted a 122-20 high school record, won N.Y. States as a senior at 167 pounds, was named the "OW" at states, and had a senior record of 39-1.
Moving on to Syracuse University, Bosch red-shirted his first season, then wrestled mostly at 177-pounds from the seasons of 1990-93. He was an NCAA D-I Qualifier in 1992, and posted a 26-11 overall record as a senior in 1993. Earning a degree in Psychology at Syracuse in 1993, Ethan left for the US Olympic Training Center in October of 1993 and joined the US Greco Roman team. He was a resident athlete at the US Olympic Training Center from 1993-2004. He wrestled in the 2004 Olympic Trials and finished his career in 2005, then went to Blackhawk High School to teach and coach.
"I'm really excited to have this opportunity to come to Clarion, be part of a great wrestling tradition, and coach at the Division I level with Teague Moore," said Bosch. "I'm really looking forward to my time here and helping develop quality student athletes and wrestlers."
Bosch is married to Lydia McChesney (New Galilee, Pa.) and the couple have a son Matthias who was born on August 26th. The family is in the process of moving to Clarion.

Bosch joins Moore who came to Clarion to become the Eagles 5th head coach since 1960 in May … Moore came to Clarion from Harvard where he was an assistant coach… He also was an assistant at Oklahoma State in 2003-04, at Oklahoma in 2002-03 and at Pitt from 2000-01… Moore also has impressive wrestling credentials … Moore, 30, wrestled at North Allegheny High School, was a three-time PIAA placewinner including a runner-up in 1993, a third pace ending in 1994 and State Champion in 1995. He also was a three-time PA. State Freestyle Champion (1993-95), a three-time Junior National Freestyle Champion (1993, 94, 95) and National High School Champion in 1995… At Oklahoma State Teague was a four-year starter at 118-pounds for the Cowboys. A 4-time NCAA Division I National Qualifier, he was a three-time Division I All-American (1997-99), including an NCAA National Championship in 1998. He also placed third at nationals in 1999 and 4th in 1997. Teague was a Big 12 Champion in 1997 and 98 and runner-up in 1999. He posted a career record of 118-25 and was 15th in career wins at Oklahoma State at that time… Moore placed third at the US Olympic Trials in 2000, he won the US Open National Championship at 55KG in 2002, was a national team member and runner-up at the World Team Trials. In 2003 he was a National Team Member, was a Silver Medalist at the World Cup and placed third at the World Team Trials and the US Open Nationals. A National Team member in 2004, Teague placed third at the US Olympic Trials and at the US Open…Wrestling internationally, he was University World Champion (@ Tokyo, Japan) in 2000, Manitoba Open Champion in 2001, Yasar Dogu Champion (Ankara, Turkey) in 2002, Manitoba Champion again in 2004 and second at the Ulan Ude, Russian International Open, among others.
