World Champion Joe Warren will be honored at the Michigan-Michigan State football game on Saturday, Oct. 7 in front of 100,000-plus fans at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Warren, who won the World Greco-Roman title at 60 kg/132 pounds on Sept. 25 in Guangzhou, China, will be honored during the first half of the football game.

Warren (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) was an NCAA All-American for Michigan in 2000.

Warren said he will walk out to the 50-yard line and be introduced during a timeout during the first half of the game.

"It's going to be really cool," said Warren, a native of Grand Rapids, Mich. "All my college buddies are flying in for it. It should be exciting."

Warren endured a rough trip home from China. He contracted food poisoning after eating at a steakhouse in Hong Kong. He said Tuesday afternoon he was recovering and was feeling better.

Warren had a small contingent of family - including his parents, brother and sister - and friends waiting to greet him in the airport in Colorado Springs when he returned from China.

"That was really nice," he said. "They had signs and were screaming and yelling for me when I walked down to where they were at. It was great to come home and see those guys waiting for me."
