NORFOLK, Va. -  Old Dominion head wrestling coach Steve Martin has announced the addition of former All-American and Virginia State Champion, Jon Sioredas, to the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant.

"We are happy to have someone like Jon Sioredas on board with us," said Martin. "He is one of the best technicians in the country and we are excited for him to be a part of Old Dominion Wrestling. We have a top notch staff that are all great teachers and we are excited about the future of Old Dominion Wrestling."

Sioredas joins the Monarch wrestling staff after a successful collegiate career at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga where he was a two-time Southern Conference champion and NCAA qualifier.  During his senior season in 2005, he was named an All-American at 165 lbs and was also named the Outstanding Wrestler and Wrestler of the Year in the Southern Conference.

Prior to joining the Mocs squad, Sioredas wrestled for three seasons at the University of Missouri under current ODU assistant coach Lee Pritts.

Sioredas is no stranger to the Hampton Roads area having wrestled scholastically for Martin at Great Bridge High School. In 2000, he captured the state championship.

The Monarch wrestling team compiled an 11-7-1 overall mark in 2006 having competed against 11 of the nation's top 25 teams. Old Dominion took second at the CAA Tournament and had four wrestlers qualify for the NCAA Tournament, the most since 1995.
