Provisor named Cadet Greco-Roman Wrestler of the Year

Ben Provisor of Stevens Point, Wis. was named 2006 Cadet Greco-Roman Wrestler of the Year, as presented by USA Wrestling's Greco-Roman National Team program.

Provisor won a gold medal at 140 pounds at the Accelerade Cadet National Championships, beating Zach Clemente of New York in three periods in the finals, 0-5, 5-0, 4-1. He won 10 matches in the tournament, including five technical falls.

Provisor was named USA Wrestling Youth Greco-Roman Wrestler of the Month in June 2006. That month, Provisor went 9-0 at 145 pounds at the Cadet Dual National Championships in Greco-Roman wrestling in Kansas City, Mo., June 20-24. Provisor allowed just four points combined in his nine matches at the Cadet Duals. 

Provisor is coached by 1995 World champion and three-time Olympian Dennis Hall at the Dennis Hall's World Gold Wrestling Club. 

Provisor placed third at Cadet Nationals in 2005. He was a five-time state Greco-Roman champion and was a 2001 Kids National Greco-Roman champion

He placed fifth in the Wisconsin state high school tournament as a freshman this past season at Stevens Point High School. Provisor also studied abroad for seven months in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2004, where he trained with the Bulgarian National Greco-Roman Team.
