MARQUETTE, Mich. - The United States Olympic Education Center has hired Doug Reese (Geneva, Ill.) as its new marketing coordinator. He will work to expand the Olympic license plate program, increase membership and involvement in the Dream Club, and establish an endowment program to ensure continued growth and development of USOEC programs.

"Doug has extensive experience with USA Wrestling's national governing body, the United States Olympic Committee and some NCAA programs," said USOEC director Jeff Kleinschmidt. "These experiences, along with his personal knowledge of the Olympic movement and his enthusiasm for the USOEC were major factors in our decision to hire him."

In addition to his administrative experience in athletics, Reese has coached at the high school, collegiate and international levels for 26 years. He also established a wrestling program at King College in Bristol, Tenn.

"I designed and helped construct a wrestling facility, purchased all the equipment, developed a competitive schedule and recruited 36 freshman student-athletes from an eight-state area. Most importantly, I built a strong foundation for the future of the King College wrestling program," said Reese.

Reese is familiar with the Marquette area and Northern Michigan University. He received his bachelor's degree in secondary education from NMU in 1980.

"As an alumnus of NMU I have always had a deep desire to come back to the place I really love and still consider home," he said.

Editor's note: The USOEC sponsors programs in men's Greco-Roman wrestling and women's freestyle wrestling along with programs in other Olympic sports.
