Top youth wrestlers on display at Schoolboy/girl National Duals in Indianapolis, June 8-11

USA Wrestling's popular Schoolboy/girl National Duals will be held in Indianapolis, Ind. this weekend. State-level teams will compete in dual meets in the two Olympic styles of wrestling, freestyle and Greco-Roman. Schoolboy/girl athletes are 13-14 years old.
The tournament is held at Warren Central High School in Indianapolis.
The following states have registered and are expected to enter teams:(alphabetically) Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
In freestyle, the defending champion is Pennsylvania, which defeated New Jersey in the championship finals last year, 52-25. Pennsylvania won 14 matches during the final dual meet against a very competitive New Jersey team. Pennyslvania placed five wrestlers on the All-Dual meet team in freestyle.
Placing third in freestyle was Oklahoma, with a 60-21 win over New York in the bronze-medal round. Fifth place went to Washington, a 49-26 winner over Indiana-I. Seventh place was captured by Missouri, which defeated Kansas, 59-17.
In Greco-Roman, Wisconsin is the defending champions, with a tight 41-35 win over Pennsylvania in the gold-medal round. Wisconsin won the last seven matches of the dual meet to come from behind for the win.
New Jersey was third, with a 45-32 win over Minnesota. Capturing fifth was Washington, which beat Indiana-I 41-37. Seventh place went to Illinois, which stopped Michigan, 38-22.
The tournament is held with a pool competition system. Each of the teams will have a number of dual meets, providing tremendous competitive experience to the athletes who participate.
The Greco-Roman competition begins Thursday, June 8th, with sessions at 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The Greco-Roman division completes on Friday, June 9, with a session at 8:00 a.m. and the final round at 3:00 p.m.
The freestyle competition begins on Friday, June 9, with a preliminary round at 7:00 p.m. There will be two sessions of wrestling on Saturday, June 10 at 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The freestyle tournament concludes on Sunday, June 11 with a morning session at 9:00 a.m. and the finals round at 2:30 p.m.
Many of the athletes competing in the Schoolboy/girl National Duals are expected to be top contenders at the ASICS Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman Championships in Green Bay, Wis., June 28-July 1.
