York (Neb.) College hires new wrestling coach

YORK, Neb. - York College has announced the hiring of Jordan Nichols for the Head Wrestling Coach position. York College has fielded wrestling as a varsity sport for the past two seasons under the direction of Russ Dudrey.
Nichols comes to York after serving as an assistant coach at Newman University in Wichita, KS. Under the direction of Mark Stovall, Nichols helped the Newman Jets finish in 12th place at the NAIA National Championships. Before coaching at the collegiate level, Nichols was an assistant coach at the wrestling powerhouse Andale High School in Andale, KS.
As a competitor, Nichols acquired NCAA II All-American honors while wrestling for Cody Bickley at Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS. Nichols was a three-time NCAA II National Qualifier and RMAC/West Region champion. He was also named the Kansas College wrestler of the Year, FHSU Athlete of the Year, and three-time team captain for the tigers. Nichols, a native of Garden City, KS, was a four-time state placer and an undefeated 6A Kansas State Champion in high school. He led his team to two Kansas State Championships during his junior and senior season.
Nichols has already begun recruiting and be joining the squad in July.
