After several weeks of very heated discussion in the world of collegiate wrestling, the past week has been relatively tame, all things considered.

The revolving door of coaching changes is still revolving, with several positions still remaining open, most of them, on the East Coast.

East Stroudsburg, Princeton, Clarion, and Hofstra are still conducting searches, as is Air Force and Portland State out west. 

Clarion's opening, which was created when Ken Nellis stepped down at season's end, should be filled within the next week with the possibility of the position being announced as soon as Monday. 

Rick Stewart, Ken Ramsey, Tim Dernlan and Teague Moore were reported as finalists for the program, which is a Division II school that competes in the Eastern Wrestling League as a Division I wrestling member.

Hofstra, devoid of a coach now that Tom Ryan took over the post at Ohio State, was allegedly set to make an announcement in the past few days, but while the search reportedly continues according to Newsday, little news has been leaked out of Hempstead, Long Island.

Many fans have been inquiring about the coaching staff at Virginia Tech. New coach Kevin Dresser expects his staff to be released next week while the school situates the status of athletes seeking transfer releases. 

Recruiting Round-Table
With just a few of the nation's top wrestlers ripe for the picking, North Carolina picked up the top signing of the week, inking Eagle Point, Oregon, senior Chris Platt, the NHSCA senior national runner-up at 171 pounds.

Platt, a state champion, was ranked sixth in the nation by InterMat among seniors at 171 pounds.

Owatonna, Minn., senior Alex Meger signed with Division II power Augustana of South Dakota. Meger, an NHSCA All-American, was ranked 12th in the nation at 119 pounds by InterMat.

Many smaller programs are announcing large classes, with Division II Carson-Newman and Pitt-Johnstown adding to their classes. The two largest non-Division I recruiting announcements this week came from Division III Wheaton College, St. Olaf, York College of Pennsylvania, Cortland State and brand new NAIA program Oklahoma City University.

Long-time El Reno (Okla.) High School coach Archie Randall was tabbed to be the man to lead Oklahoma City into its first season and the Stars picked up a solid base of in-state talent and transfers.

Highlighting Randall's class are most notably: Zach Rosson, an Oklahoma native transferring from the University of Virginia, Dakota Shadowen, an in-state product who initially committed to Campbellsville, and Lawton MacArthur's Mitchell Eichenhauer.

Other notable high school seniors to sign in the past week are: Tennessee's Corey Manson with Cornell, South Dakota's Adam Everson with South Dakota State, Alabama's Forrest Millsap with NAIA national champion Dana College, Virginia's Brian Wright with George Mason, Pennsylvania's A.J. Papa with Penn State, and Florida's Jeremie Cook with Lock Haven.

Rocky Bonomo is putting together a very solid incoming class for the Bald Eagles with Cook being the latest signing. Also in Lock Haven's class are: Landis Wright, Travis Stem and Donnie Ament of Pennsylvania and New Jersey's Jesse Harrington. Wright and Ament committed earlier this season.
