The Clinic of Champions, featuring three World and Olympic wrestling stars, will be held at the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, N.J. on Sunday, May 7 from noon - 6 p.m.

The clinicians will be:
- Steve Fraser, Olympic champion and USA Wrestling National Coach
- Dremiel Byers, World champion and five-time national champion
- Ike Anderson, Olympian and USA Wrestling National Coach

This clinic is free of charge to all USA Wrestling members.  USA Wrestling membership cards will be available at the door for $35.
The clinic is sponsored by USA Wrestling New Jersey, and is open to wrestlers of all states. This is an opportunity for wrestlers of all ages to learn championship techniques from outstanding coaches. This clinic is highly recommended for all wrestlers who intend to compete on a New Jersey national team this year.

The clinic will be held at the Lavino Field House, North Court at the Lawrenceville School, which is located on Main Street (Route 206) in Lawrenceville.

Directions to The Lawrenceville School

From the north via the New Jersey Turnpike: Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 7A (Interstate 195 West). Follow 195 West to Interstate 295 North. Take 295 North/Interstate 95 South (295 North becomes 95 South) approximately 9.5 miles to Exit 7B (US Route 206 North). Follow Route 206 North through one traffic light (Mobil station on left) and continue on until the next light (Craven Lane). At this light turn right into the campus. Drive through the right hand entrance of the Class of 1891 gate and follow the signs to the Admission Office.

From the south via the New Jersey Turnpike: Take the New Jersey Turnpike north to Exit 7A. Take Interstate 195 west toward Trenton approximately 6 miles to the point where it ends and becomes NJ Route 29. Take Exit 60B Interstate 295 North (toward Princeton). At the junction with US Route 1, 295 North becomes Interstate 95 South. Continue on 95 South. Refer to directions above from 95 South.

From the Pennsylvania Turnpike: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Exit 351. Take US Route 1 North about 6 miles to Interstate 95. Take 95 North into New Jersey and take Exit 7B, US Route 206 North. Refer to the first directions above from Exit 7B.

About the Clinicians

Fraser serves as USA Wrestling's National Greco-Roman Coach , the full-time professional coach mananging the national Greco-Roman program.

Fraser led the U.S. to its best team performance ever at the 2001 World Championships with the United States taking home the third-place trophy. At the 2000 Olympic Games, the U.S. team won one gold, one silver and one bronze medal, and Rulon Gardner stunned the world with his win over unbeaten Russian Alexander Kareline.

Fraser won a gold medal at 90 kg (198 lbs.) at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, becoming the first U.S. wrestler to ever win an Olympic gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling. He won five matches on the way to the title.

He also won a gold medal at the 1983 Pan American Games. Fraser was a member of the 1979 and 1982 U.S. World Teams. He claimed U.S. Nationals titles in Greco-Roman in 1981 and 1983, and was a U.S. Nationals freestyle champion in 1984.

Fraser was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1994. He was named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Year in 1984, and was a finalist for the James E. Sullivan Award that year. He has been inducted into the Michigan Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Michigan Amateur Sports Hall of Fame. He attended the Univ. of Michigan, where he was a two-time NCAA All-American. 

Byers was a 2002 World Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, competing in the 264.5 pound weight class. He is one of only four U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers to ever win a World gold medal. Byers also placed sixth in the 1999 World Championships and competed in the 2005 World Championships. He placed second behind Olympic champion Rulon Gardner at the 2004 Olympic Trials, and served as his training partner at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Byers is a member of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program and is a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a 2005 CISM World Military champion, and has won numerous Armed Forces Championship titles. Byers has won five U.S. Nationals titles and three World Team Trials titles. He won the 2001 World Cup and the 2003 Pan American Championships gold medals.

He was a high school state champion in North Carolina prior to joining the U.S. Army and becoming one of the world's greatest Greco-Roman wrestlers.

Anderson serves as USA Wrestling's National Developmental Coach , and is responsible for the development of age-group Greco-Roman wrestlers in the United States. He helps coach the U.S. age group World teams, and also assists with training Greco-Roman wrestlers at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.

He placed sixth in the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea, competing at 136.5 pounds. He won a silver medal at the 1991 Pan American Games in Cuba, was a 1991 World Team Member and won three medals at the Greco-Roman World Cup. Anderson won three U.S. National Greco-Roman titles, and was a national runner-up four times. He was also a two-time Concord Cup champion.

Anderson served as head coach of the 1995 Pan American Championships team in Cali, Colombia. He was an assistant coach on U.S. tour teams to Europe and Cuba. Anderson was a member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic team coaching staff. He was a club coach with the New York Athletic Club and the Adirondack Three-Style Wrestling Association. In addition, he served assistant coaching stints at the State Univ. of New York at Albany and at Appalachian State Univ. 

Anderson attended Appalachian State Univ. in Boone, N.C., where he was an NCAA Championships qualifier.

Fraser and Byers will also be in New Jersey to participate in The Night and Drive of Champions at the Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, N.J., Monday, May 8.  The Drive of Champions features a putting contest, brunch, round of championship golf and a cocktail reception. The Night of Champions will feature an Awards Banquet, Roast and Auction, with celebrity guest Rulon Gardner, the 2000 Olympic gold medalist.  Fraser and Byers will be among the celebrities who will roast Gardner at the function.

A special achievement award will be given to Jeff Buxton, the head wrestling coach at Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J. Buxton has coached Blair for two decades, developing the nation's most successful high school wrestling program. Buxton is active in the state association, New Jersey USA Wrestling, as a coach and leader.
