Michael Johnson Jr. (Downers Grove, Ill.) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for the week of April 5-11.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. The announcement will be made each week on Wednesday.

Johnson became the fourth winner of the coveted USA Wrestling Ultimate Dominator Award on April 9 at USA Wrestling's ASICS Kids/Cadet Folkstyle National Championships at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Johnson finished with 14,800 points.

The Kids/Cadets Folkstyle Nationals was the final tournament of the 10-event Ultimate Challenge Series of Folkstyle Wrestling, sponsored by USA Wrestling.

Johnson, who competes in the Novice Division at 100 pounds, won eight tournaments during the Ultimate Challenge Series and capped his run by placing third at the Kids/Cadet Folkstyle Nationals on April 9.

Johnson was followed in the Ultimate Challenge Series in Division I (9 & 10 year olds) by Dylan Lucas of Florida and Brandon James of Indiana.
