Entry deadline is Saturday, April 1 for the most important events in Kids wrestling each year, the 2006 USA Wrestling ASICS Kids/Cadet Folkstyle National Championships. The event will feature the nation's top young wrestlers at the UNI-Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, April 7-9. As in previous years, the USA Wrestling Veterans Folkstyle Nationals will also be held alongside the youth competition, allowing athletes 30 years and above to compete in four age-divisions for national folkstyle titles. The Veterans competition will be held April 8. Mats will be spread across the floor of an indoor football stadium, and talented and motivated young wrestlers will battle for national championships and All-American honors in American folkstyle wrestling. The deadline for all entries in this tournament is Saturday, April 1 at 10:00 p.m. Those who register online receive a reduced rate. Mailed in registrations are $10 more and must also be received by the April 1 deadline. To register online, visit: www.uni.edu/unidome/2006USAWrestling.htm All-session passes are available. Two-day passes are available for $12 for adults and $8 for students. Single-day tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. The USA Wrestling ASICS Kids/Cadet Folkstyle Nationals marks the conclusion of USA Wrestling's Ultimate Challenge Series of folkstyle wrestling. It is the final competition in an 11-event series of major youth tournaments, held all across the nation. After the USA Wrestling ASICS Folkstyle Nationals, nine Dominator belts will be awarded, to the top three athletes in three different age divisions. In addition, the top point scorer in the entire series will be named Ultimate Dominator. In 2005, the Ultimate Dominator was Clark Glass of Florida, who is among the challengers again this year. The event also begins the quest for USA Wrestling's prized Kids and Cadet Triple Crown awards. In its 10th year, the Triple Crown recognizes young wrestlers that accomplish the tremendous feat of winning USA Wrestling's national championships in all three styles of wrestling: folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman. For those seeking a chance to win the Kids Triple Crown, the final competition to determine this year's winners will be the ASICS Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman Nationals in Green Bay, Wis., June 28-July 1. For those attempting to capture the Cadet Triple Crown, the conclusion of the program is the ASICS/Vaughan Cadet Freestyle and Greco-Roman Nationals in Fargo, N.D., July 22-29. A special treat for all who are attending the ASICS Kids/Cadet Folkstyle Nationals is an appearance by wrestling legend Cael Sanderson, the 2004 Olympic gold medalist and the only wrestler to ever win four NCAA Div. I titles and finish his career undefeated. Sanderson will meet fans and participants, sign autographs and hand out awards. There is still time for athletes and their families to make plans to attend this outstanding event. 2006 ASICS KIDS/CADET & VETERANS FOLKSTYLE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS at the UNI-Dome, University of Northern Iowa, April 7-9 FRIDAY, APRIL 7 3:30-5 p.m. - Kids and Cadet Registration 3:30-5 p.m. - Kids and Cadet Weigh-ins 7-10 p.m. - Copper Coaches Clinic SATURDAY, APRIL 8 7 a.m. - Doors open 8:30-8:45 a.m. - Rules clinic (athletes, coaches, parents) 8:30-9 a.m. - Veterans Registration and Weigh-ins 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. - Midget, Novice and Schoolboy/girl only 1-4 p.m. - Cadets only 1 p.m.-conclusion - Veterans preliminaries through completion 5-9 p.m. - All Kids and Cadets Divisions SUNDAY, APRIL 9 7 a.m. - Doors open 7:30-8:30 a.m. - Church service 8:30-9 a.m. - All-American parade 9 a.m.-3 p.m. - All Kids and Cadets Divisions 2005 KIDS/CADET FOLKSTYLE NATIONALS CHAMPIONS at Waterloo, Iowa, April 2-3, 2005 Midget champions 50 - Tanner Johnshoy (MN); 55 - Noah Teaney (MO); 60 - Cullen Hood (KS); 65 - Joey McKenna (NJ); 70 - Bryce Brill (IL); 75 - Peter Andreotti (IL); 80 - Richard Robertson (IL); 87 - Mitch Sliga (IN); 95 - Dylan Diebitz (WI); 103 - Sam Stoll (MN); 112 - Logan Drake (MO); 120 - Wesley Bernard (IN); 120+ - Chris Schleuger (IA); 120++ - Travis Hasselbeck (LA) Novice champions 60 - Brian Marquez (TX); 65 - Brett Lunn (IL); 70 - Mark Grey (NJ); 75 - Shane Thomas (OK); 80 - Edwin Cooper Jr. (IL); 85 - Eric DeVos (MN); 90 - Joshua Villani (WA); 95 - John Sims (IN); 100 - Taylor Massa (MI); 105 - Jeff Koepke (IL); 112 - Jason Luster (GA); 120 - Trevor Landon (WI); 130 - Michael Pelfrey (MI); 140 - Justin Birschbach (WI); 140+ - Cole Johnson (WI); 140++ - Donny Longendyke (MN) Schoolboy champions 70 - Rossi Bruno (WI); 75 - Sharky Slyter (KS); 80 - Frank Cagnina (NJ); 85 - Chris Villalonga (NJ); 90 - Jake Gregerson (IL); 95 - Riley Ewalt (MI); 100 - Derek Olson (WI); 105 - Taylor March (IN); 110 - Jacob Wojcik (IL); 115 - Seth Collier (IN); 120 - Brandon Rolnick (NJ); 125 - Kalvin York (WI); 130 - Ben Best (WI); 145 - Brendan Eichmann (MN); 165 - Dillon Kern (MI); 185 - Joe Arthur (IN); 205 - Jacob Hohlstein (WI); 225 - Max Pelfrey (MI); 250 - Frank Taylor (MI) Cadet champions 84 - Gabrian Martinez (CO); 91 - Tyler Cox (WY); 98 - Eric Grajales (FL); 105 - Tyler Clark (IL); 112 - Andrew Saunders (IL); 119 - Travis Rutt (MN); 125 - Dallas Bailey (OK); 130 - Jake Deitchler (MN); 135 - Dylan Joiner (MO); 140 - Jamal Lawrence (IN); 145 - Matt Mauseth (MN); 152 - Eric Pretto (FL); 160 - Jordan Blanton (IL); 171 - Torrey Line (MN); 189 - Eric Thompson (IA); 215 - Dom Bradley (MO); 275 - Andrew Peralta (MN) 2005 VETERANS FOLKSTYLE NATIONALS RESULTS at Cedar Falls, Iowa, April 2, 2005 Div.
