Apprentice School, PCC close out top three in tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN - The host Grand Valley State University holds a commanding lead after day one of the 2006 National Collegiate Wrestling Association National Championships at the Grand Valley DeltaPlex.  The Lakers have 109.5 points while The Apprentice School is in second with 65 points and Pensacola Christian College is in third with 56.

Grand Valley State has semifinalists in eight of the 11 weight classes, while the Builders have four in the semifinals along with Pensacola Christian.  Fourth-place Northampton Community College has two in the semifinals and fifth-place UNC Pembroke has three.

The first round of wrestling on Saturday begins at 9 a.m. EST and the finals are scheduled for 4 p.m. at the DeltaPlex.
