After seven intense events in the ASICS Ultimate Challenge Series, the fight for the Dominator belts is becoming even more competitive. The most talented young wrestlers in the country have been competing in the 2005-2006 Ultimate Challenge Series, an 11-event tournament that spans the country. Michael Johnson, Jr. of Illinois is leading in Div. I (9 & 10 years old), with 8,000 pts. after winning titles at Winter Classic, Dixie ASICS Nationals, 21st Annual Brute Bowl Class, the U.S. Junior Open Championship and the Indy Nationals. Dylan Lucus of Florida follows in second place with 5,200 pts., with Brandon James of Indiana close behind with 4,200 pts. In Div. II (11 & 12 years old), Hunter Weber of Wisconsin leads with 8,400 pts. after winning championships in the California World Challenge, 21st Annual Brute Bowl Classic and the Sunkist Kids Ultimate Challenge. There is a three-way tie for second place between Glenn Climmons of Georgia., Jason Luster of Georgia and Andrew Schulte of California, each with 6,400 pts. Gregory Amos of Missouri currently holds the top position in Div. III (13-15 year olds) with 7,600 pts. after winning gold medals at the Winter Classic, Dixie ASICS Nationals, U.S. Junior Open Championship and the Indy Nationals. Alan Waters of Kansas is ranked second with 6,400 pts. Clark Glass of Florida follows closely with 6,000 pts. Glass won the Ultimate Dominator Award in Div. II for the 2004-05 Ultimate Challenge Series. After the USA Wrestling ASICS Folkstyle Nationals, nine Dominator belts will be awarded to the top three athletes in three different age divisions. In addition, the top point scorer in the entire series will be named the Ultimate Dominator. A special treat for all who are attending the ASICS Kids/Cadet Folkstyle Nationals is an appearance by wrestling legend Cael Sanderson, the 2004 Olympic gold medalist and the only wrestler to ever win four NCAA Div. I titles and finish his career undefeated.
