Naft defeats Pas to claim team title in the Iranian Professional Wrestling League playoffs

Naft (Tehran) defeat Pas (Tehran) 24-10 in the championship match to claim the team title in the Iranian Professional Wrestling League.
Joybarloleh (Mazandaran) stopped Payam Ertebatat (Mazandaran), 19-8, to capture third place in the league.
The playoffs were held January 5, with semifinal matches in the morning and the final placement matches held in the afternoon. Only four teams in the 11-team league qualified for the playoffs, by placing first or second in their pools during the regular season.
In the gold medal match, Naft won six of the eight bouts for a dominant victory. Among the winners for Naft were top international stars Dilshod Mansurov of Uzbekistan, Murad Gaidarov of Belarus and Ali Rezai Rezaei of Iran.
Mansurov, a two-time World champion, defeated Hadi Hajian, 1-0, 2-0. Gaidarov, a 2003 World silver medalist, defeated 2002 World silver medalist Magomed Isagazhiev of Russia, who wrestled for Pas, 5-0, 0-1, 1-0. Rezaei, a 2004 Olympic silver medalist, ended the dual meet with an injury default win over Amin Mardani.
One of the big showdowns of the dual meet came at 96 kg/211.5 lbs, where Asian champion Hamid Seifi of Iran, competing for Naft, defeated 2002 World bronze medalist Vadym Tasoyev of Ukraine, competeing for Pas, 2-0, 0-1, 3-0.
The third-place match was also one-sided, as Joybarloleh won seven of the eight matches, including the first five matches. Among the winners for Joybarloleh was 2000 Olympic champion David Musulbes of Russia, who beat Javad Damavandi of Payam, 2-0, 1-0.
Revas Mindorishvili of Georgia, competing for Payam, wrestled up from his normal 84 kg/185 lbs. to compete at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. He was defeated in the dual meet by Yaser Ghorbani, 3-1, 1-0.
Naft and Pas were both winners of their respective pools during the regular season. Both teams earned a spot in the finals by claiming semifinal victories. Pas (Tehran) edged Joybarloleh(Mazandaran)16-15 in the semifinals, while Naft(Tehran)controlled Payam Ertebatat(Mazandaran), 19-8 in their semifinal bout.
One of the key victories for Pas in the semifinals came at 84 kg/185 lbs., when Saeed Ebrahimi of Pas won by injury default over Reza Yazadni of Joybarloleh, giving Pas five team points for the match. Pas and Joybarloleh both won four matches during the dual meet. In the final weight class, Olympic champion Musulbes, competing for Joybarloleh, defeated Yaser Norzaei of Pas, 7-0, 3-0. A pin by Musulbes would have changed the outcome of this dual meet.
Naft was in control of its dual meet victory over Payam Ertebatat, winning six of the eight bouts. Among the winners for Naft were World champion Mansurov at 55 kg/121 lbs. and Olympic medalists Rezaei at 120 kg/264.5 lbs.
The Army team also received the Special Cup for Fair Play in ceremonies at the conclusion of the action.
