World champions Kurtanidze, Soleimani, Heidari and Farniev win bouts during Week 7 of Iranian Professional League

Four past World champions scored victories during dual meet action in the seventh week of the Iranian Professional League.

In a battle of teams fighting for the lead in Pool B, Payam Ertebatat edged Pas, 18-13. However, Pas remains in first place in Pool B, with 10 points, while Payam Ertebatat has eight points.

In this dual meet, two-time World champion Eldar Kurtanidze of Georgia, who wrestles for Payam, defeated Amin Mardani of Pas in three periods, 0-1, 2-0, 4-0 at 96 kg/211.5 lbs.

2005 World champion Revas Mindorashvili of Georgia, competing for Payam, was defeated by Saeed Ebrahimi of Payam, 1-0, 1-1 at 84 kg/185 lbs.  Ebrahimi was an Asian champion for Iran in 2005.

Another key win for Payam came at 74 kg/163 lbs., where Asghar Bazri stopped 2002 World silver medalist Magomed Isagazhiev of Russia, wrestling for Pas, 1-0, 2-3. Another international star, past World bronze medalist Vadym Tasoev of Ukraine, competing for Pas, beat Javad Damavandi of Payam, 1-2, 1-0, 1-0.

Two past World champions who compete for Tamin Ejtemayi, Ali Reza Soliemani at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. and Ali Reza Heidari at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. claimed wins as Tamin Ejtamayi beat the Army Team, 24-10.

Soliemani, a 1989 World champion, defeated Arash Mardani, 1-0, 1-2, 1-0. Heidari, who won his World title in 1998, stopped Omid Golmohamadzedeh, 1-0, 4-1. Tamin won seven of the eight bouts in the dual meet.

The other past World champion to win a match this week was Irbek Farniev of Russia, who won his bout at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. Farniev, who wrestles for Javanan, defeated Hassan Aryan of Naft with a dominant 6-0, 7-0 technical fall. However, Naft, which is  in first place in Pool A, won the dual meet 19-11. Naft won six of the eight bouts in the dual meet, including the first three weight divisions.

In a lopsided match, Joybar Ioleh stopped Isfahan, 25-5, winning seven of the eight matches in the dual meet. Isfahan, which is in last place of Pool A with 0 team points, won the first bout at 50 kg/110 lbs., then Joybar Ioleh won the next seven matches. Joybar Ioleh remains in second place in Pool A with 12 points.

The closest dual of the week came between Rah Ahan and Kargaran, which went down to the heavyweight bout. Fardin Masumi of Rah Ahan stopped Ali Reza Gharaei of Karagan at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. by a 0-1, 1-0, 3-2 score, giving the dual meet to Rah Ahan by a 17-13 margin. One of the stars of Rah Ahan's team, 2005 Junior World champion Nasrolah Fadaei, won his bout at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. over Mehdi Sohrabi, 0-1, 3-1, 2-1

Mehregan noor, which is fourth in Pool B, did not compete this week.

Naft is in first in Pool A with 14 points, followed by Joybar Iolah with 12 points, Tamin Ejtemayi with 10 points, Javanan with 4 points, Army with two points and Isfahan with 0 points.

Pas leads Pool B with 10 points, followed by Payam Ertebatat with eight points, Rah Ahan with six points, Mehregan noor with four points and Kargaran with 0 points.
