The Iranian professional wrestling league will get underway on October 27. Overall, 11 teams separated throughout the Iranian provinces will compete for prize money through January 20 in a dual-meet format.

The 11 teams are split into two pools, one pool of five and another pool of six. After those teams compete in a round-robin format, the top two teams from each pool will advance into a semifinal round, with the second-place team from one pool facing the first-place team from another pool.

Similar to the sport of hockey, in pool competition, the winner of a dual meet receives two points and both teams receive one point in the event of a tie score. Those points will determine the top two placements in each pool.

The teams competing will be from the following provinces: five teams from Tehran, four teams from Mazandaran (consisting of two teams from Sari and one team from Noor and Joybar) and one team each from Isfahan and Khorasan.

Many of the top wrestlers in the world have committed to competing in the league this year along with the top Iranian wrestlers as well. Those committed from other countries include:

Dilshod Mansurov (UZB) - 2003 and 2005 World champion, 2004 Olympian
David Musulbes (RUS) - 2000 Olympic champion, 2001-02 World champion
Vadym Tasoev (UKR) - 2001-02 World bronze medalist, two-time Olympian
Vasily Tismenetzki (UKR) - 2005 World bronze medalist
