Cyclone Wrestling Club webmaster Renee Tripp dies after being hit by a pick-up truck

Renee Tripp, 55, from Waterloo, Iowa, lived for Cyclone Wrestling, but tragically her life was taken wen she was struck by a pick-up truck near her home on Tuesday, August 23rd. 

Tripp was walking west on Byron street a few blocks from her home when she was struck by a pick-up.  Renee was walking in the street in an area that does not have sidewalks.  Neighbors felt the sun could have played a factor in the accident.  The driver of the truck, Patrick Wagner, lives about four blocks from the Tripp residence.

Renee was the a long-time supporter and webmaster for the Cyclone Wrestling Club and she enjoyed taking pictures of the ISU wrestlers, posting them on the web site and supplying the athletes with pictures at the annual Cyclone wrestling banquet. Renee and her husband Fred were among of the top boosters and supporters of the ISU program and the wrestling club.  

If you were ever at a Cyclone wrestling event, you would have witnessed the dedication and enthusiasm that Renee had for Iowa State Wrestling.  

ISU head wrestling Coach Bobby Douglas stated," Renee was a very special person to me personally and the program.  She will be missed beyond my ability to express.  She brought a special type of energy and warmth.  We all loved Renee and will miss her deeply."  

Assistant coach and current world team member Chris Bono commented that," Renee was a great woman who supported ISU wrestling though the thick and the thin.  She was always matside with her camera.  She will be missed greatly.  My prayers are with her and her family." 

Olympic gold medallist and four-time undefeated NCAA champion Cael Sanderson noted." Renee was a very kind, energetic and pleasant lady.  She was a wonderful member of the Cyclone family and we will miss her greatly."

Renee Tripp, a true wrestling supporter and genuinely great person will be sorely missed.
