Nate Gallick, Tucson, Ariz. (Iowa State Univ./Sunkist Kids), 1st place at 60 kg/132 lbs. On winning the gold medal: "It was sweet. This tournament was kind of at a bad time. It was hard to get motivated to train for it. I didn't have training partners in Ames and I was limited with summer school. Once I was here, it was exciting. I really enjoy wrestling overseas. It's my second time being out in Turkey. Even when the fans are rooting against you, it's kind of neat." On his game plan for the finals match: "The first period, I had the same game plan going in. He caught me off-guard a little bit. I was down points and had to come back. I was down 3-0, and the only way I was going to win was to get a three-point move." On not taking as many risks in the second and third periods: "The second period, I didn't want to rush too much. It's a best two-out-of-three (match). If I lose that period, it's over. I didn't get the opening I wanted that period. It came down to the clinch and I was happy to win the (coin) flip. The third period, he held good position. He did a good job of keeping his distance. Towards the end of the period, I knew I didn't want to leave it up to the clinch." Tommy Rowlands, Columbus, Ohio (The Ohio State Univ./Sunkist Kids), 1st place at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. On wrestling in front of a loud crowd: "It was a hostile crowd. I kind of got a kick out of it. I knew it was going to be a lot of fun. My whole goal was to take the crowd out of it right away. I scored that three-point move in the first 30 seconds of the first period, and that was big." On the team's performance: "I thought it was a good performance by our team overall. I thought that the guys that didn't medal were one or two situations from being in a spot where Jesse, Nate and I were in. Any time you get to represent your country and everyone performs pretty well, it's going to bring a lot of excitement."
